As reported by datacenterknowledge.com a company from Texas is attempting to build a data center that is 100% powered by renewable energy. They are starting off with wind turbines.

Should be very interesting to see if they can pull this off.

As I was trying to find something to watch on Hulu while I was reformatting a computer and transferring the files back I came across this show called “Building Green” It was put together by PBS and goes through a lot of different methods and options for building green. All the while they are actually building a house. Some very cool stuff in the episodes I hadn’t realized or knew about.

Here is the first episode to check it out:

  • Second Test Batch of Bio-Diesel

Made the second test batch tonight. Waiting for it to settle and to be able to wash it tomorrow for a final product.

This time it turned out with a decent amount of soap o well that will teach me to be quick with the drying of glassware…
Anyway hopefully will have pics coming soon.

  • Updates! New Project and more!

    Hello!
Wind Turbine – Still on hold waiting on parts. We did put it up and let it run for a day managed to get 24volts generated at a wind gust. Hopefully will have parts for the charge controller shortly so we can continue the project. We obtained some batteries for testing the charge controller as well.

    New Project!

So I have decided to spend some time in the bio-diesel world. I took a 6 hour course at MSU’s alternative energy plant in Holland, MI a couple weeks ago. Up until then I always thought it would be very hard to make it. What an eye opener. Doesn’t take much just time and patience.  So we will be exploring this topic as I attempt to build a processor and also convert a diesel generator to run on it.

Anyway sorry for the lack of posts just did not have much progress.

I have been very busy latly and have not had a chance to play with the wind turbine project. I have gathered some more parts for the project so hopefully shortly we will get some more stuff done on.

For now that is all I have.
