They are starting off with wind turbines.

All the while they are actually building a house. Some very cool stuff in the episodes I hadn’t realized or knew about.

Wind Turbine – Still on hold waiting on parts. We did put it up and let it run for a day managed to get 24volts generated at a wind gust. Hopefully will have parts for the charge controller shortly so we can continue the project. We obtained some batteries for testing the charge controller as well.

New Project!

So I have decided to spend some time in the bio-diesel world. I took a 6 hour course at MSU’s alternative energy plant in Holland, MI a couple weeks ago. Up until then I always thought it would be very hard to make it. What an eye opener. Doesn’t take much just time and patience.  So we will be exploring this topic as I attempt to build a processor and also convert a diesel generator to run on it.

Anyway sorry for the lack of posts just did not have much progress.

I tested the turbine on a 10foot mast last week and proud to say I was getting about 9 volts steady. I need to play around with the blades and a different motor but all is looking good! Pictures will be up shortly as well. The charge controller is being built by a friend right now as well. Another cool thing is I found 13 motors I can use so if I want to make a small wind farm I can now!

Very cool! This house glows green when it is making enough energy to power the house and then some. When it is pulling off the grid it glows red. Check it out! Must make the neighbors jealous when it is running “green.”

Makes me wonder if the house will make some competition in that area for more efficient houses, lets just hope so!
